ATU Community Celebrates Black History Month

Members of the Arkansas Tech University community enjoyed fellowship on the Baswell Techionery patio during an ATU Black Student Association event on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Arkansas Tech University Black Student Association hosted a Black History Month kickoff event at Baswell Techionery on Thursday, Feb. 1.

The event included food, music and a history walk for ATU students, faculty and staff.

The organization’s month-long observance of Black History Month will continue with an ATU Black Student Association general meeting (Monday, Feb. 5, 7 p.m., Doc Bryan Student Services Center room 242), a Soul Train and line dancing class (Thursday, Feb. 15, 6 p.m., Hull Building Student Union), a game night focusing on Black culture (Thursday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m., Hull Building Student Union) and a movie night featuring a screening of the film “The Color Purple (Thursday, Feb. 29, 5 p.m., Hull Building Student Union).

All events are free and open to the ATU community.
