ATU Alumna Makes Top 10 at Miss Arkansas

Arkansas Tech University alumna Sophe Sligh finished top 10 in the 2022 Miss Arkansas competition, which concluded on Saturday, June 18, at the Robinson Center in Little Rock.

Sligh, a 23-year old from Hot Springs, is Miss Metro 2022 and a 2021 graduate of Arkansas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Her talent was a violin performance of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Sligh’s social impact statement was “Live Smart for a Healthy Heart.”

In addition to finishing top 10 overall, Sligh earned a $2,000 scholarship as a preliminary winner in talent.

Sligh, Miss Sweetheart of Arkansas 2021 and runner-up in the 2020 Miss Arkansas Tech University competition, finished top 15 in the 2021 Miss Arkansas competition. She is employed as a registered nurse at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

ATU was also represented in the 2022 Miss Arkansas competition by students Olivia Battles of Ozark, Kristin Hardy of Benton, Alli Beth King of Rison and Hannah Lomax of Russellville.

Miss Arkansas is an official preliminary to the Miss America competition.
