ATU, ADH Plan Campus Testing Events for January

The Arkansas Tech University Health and Wellness Center will partner with the Arkansas Department of Health to provide COVID-19 testing to ATU students, faculty and staff who would like to be tested in preparation for the spring 2021 semester.

This surveillance testing will allow the university to support those who test positive and to put safety measures in place. Testing will be free to all eligible participants.

Those being tested should be prepared to share their social security number and to present their ATU identification card. Kristy Davis, associate dean for student wellness at ATU, provided additional details relative to health insurance and the surveillance testing.

“If you have health insurance, please bring your insurance card and it’s possible your insurance may be billed for the test,” said Davis. “The university is waiting on further guidance from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education regarding state funding for testing. If you do not have health insurance, please note that health insurance is not required to receive a test and you will not be billed.”

Those who do not have insurance will be required to attest to that fact in order to receive the test. Anyone with insurance will be required to present his or her insurance card.

Testing will be offered at Tucker Coliseum on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 6, 8:30-11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 13, 8:30-11 a.m.

ATU students and employees who live locally are encouraged to take advantage of the testing opportunities on Jan. 5-6, while others are encouraged to test on Jan. 12-13.

“However, please choose the testing date that works best for you,” said Davis. “Students living in residence halls are especially encouraged to take advantage of testing opportunities. We urge as many members of the community as possible to get tested on these dates, whether experiencing any symptoms or not.”
