Arkansas Tech University nursing students were up to the challenge presented by the Next Generation NCLEX-RN licensing examination.

Dr. Shelly Daily, head of the ATU Department of Nursing and professor of nursing, reports that 100 percent of spring 2023 and fall 2023 ATU graduates with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree passed the exam on their first attempt.

“The ATU Department of Nursing faculty worked hard to prepare for the biggest change in the RN licensing exam in years,” said Daily. “With the adoption of a new testing and remediation policy, focus on student outcomes and evaluation of students at the end of each semester of upper division, the faculty made changes to ensure our students were ready for the exam. Our students’ tenacity never ceases to amaze us. We are extremely proud of this accomplishment and look forward to seeing their future success.”

The ATU Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree was initiated in 1975. According to the ATU Department of Nursing web page, ATU’s nursing curriculum is “designed to prepare students for beginning professional responsibilities in a variety of health care settings and to provide the necessary foundations for degree advancement and graduate study.”

The ATU Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and the ATU Master of Science in Nursing degree in administration and emergency management are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
