ASBTDC Offers Summer Training Workshops

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech University has announced training opportunities during July and August 2019.

The ATU ASBTDC regional office is designed to assist new, existing, and expanding businesses by offering a variety of services including free one-to-one confidential consulting, free market research and low-cost or free training.

Passions to Profits: Starting a Woman-Owned Business | Tuesday, July 16
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech presents “Passions to Profits: Starting a Woman-Owned Business” on Tuesday, July 16, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Women who are considering entrepreneurship or have recently started a business are encouraged to attend. This interactive session includes information and exercises designed to help each participant assess their entrepreneurial aptitude and take an in-depth look at their business idea in order to develop next steps for turning their passion into a profitable business. QuickBooks Desktop Basics & Beyond | Thursday, July 25
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech presents “QuickBooks Desktop Basics & Beyond” from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. This interactive workshop is for those using or planning to use QuickBooks Desktop (Pro, Premier, or Enterprise) software. Topics build from navigation and company set up to reconciling accounts, handling revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank feeds, inventory, customizing reports and more. QuickBooks Payroll Desktop or Online | Tuesday, July 30
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center presents two QuickBooks Payroll workshops on Tuesday, July 30, at Landmark CPAs in Fort Smith. The 9 a.m.-noon session is designed for QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise users to learn the payroll features in the desktop version of QuickBooks accounting software. The 1-4 p.m. session is for those using the cloud-based version of QuickBooks (Simple Start, Essentials or Online Plus) to learn the payroll features in the online accounting portal. Topics in each session include tracking employee time, issuing paychecks, paying liabilities and producing required payroll reports. A computer and a take-home book are provided during each interactive session. Cost is $65 per session. Selling to the Government | Wednesday, August 14
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech and the Arkansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center presents “Selling to the Government” from 9:30 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, August 14, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Selling to the government is different than selling in the private sector. Come learn about different government contract types, state and federal procurement processes and how you can register your business to sell products or services to the government. This course is of special benefit to those companies that have no experience in government contracting or are relatively new to the process. Financing Your Business | Wednesday, August 28
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech presents “Financing Your Business” on Wednesday, August 28, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce. If you need money for your business, join us as we explore different sources of capital including loans, grants and alternative financing options. Also hear from a lender who will discuss topics pertaining to achieving credit readiness. There is no charge to attend thanks to Arvest Bank.
