Arts and Humanities Lauds Colleagues for Excellence

Witherspoon Hall is home to many offices and classrooms utilized by the Arkansas Tech University College of Arts and Humanities, including the rehabilitation science program.

Five individuals from the Arkansas Tech University College of Arts and Humanities have been selected for recognition of their achievements and service to the college during the 2020-21 academic year.

The award winners are as follows:

  • 2021 Staff Award for Distinguished Service: Bonnie Heathcock, administrative specialist II, Department of Music
  • 2021 Mentor Award for Distinguished Student Advising: Dr. Jason Ulsperger, professor of sociology, Department of Behavioral Sciences
  • 2021 Adjunct Faculty Award: Don Lee, visiting lecturer of English, Department of English and World Languages
  • 2021 Dean’s Choice Award: Dr. Alejandra Carballo, associate professor of Spanish, Department of English and World Languages
  • 2021 Dean’s Choice Award: Dr. Nate Chapman, assistant professor of sociology, Department of Behavioral Sciences

The first three award winners were selected by a committee consisting of Dr. Peter Dykema, Dr. Tim Smith, Dr. Ernest Enchelmayer, Dr. Alexis Johnson, Dr. Robert Stevens and Dustin Simpson, faculty members in the ATU College of Arts and Humanities.

Dr. Jeffrey Cass, dean of the ATU College of Arts and Humanities, was charged with selecting the other award winners.

“I want to express how proud I am of all our recipients, and I hope these awards illustrate some measure of how much we value their presence in our college and their hard work for the students and the campus community,” said Cass. “Recipients, thank you so much for your commitment to the College of Arts and Humanities and to Arkansas Tech University. You are an inspiration to us all.”
