Arkansas Tech University’s Band Member for a Day 2023 drew 674 registrants to the ATU campus in Russellville on Saturday, Nov. 11.
The annual event provides high school and junior high band students from around Arkansas and beyond with the chance to perform with the ATU marching band, “Arkansas’ Band of Distinction,” during an Arkansas Tech home football game.
Attendees began their day by participating in a rehearsal at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium. They went on to attend an informational session about opportunities at ATU in Witherspoon Auditorium, engage with faculty members during an academic fair on the Hindsman Tower lawn and eat lunch at Chambers Cafeteria.
After changing into their band uniforms, ATU Band Member for a Day participants marched to the stadium with the band, performed during pre-game and halftime, sat with the band during the game and had the opportunity to observe the band’s full 2023 marching show at the conclusion of the football game.
