African American Museum Founder to Speak at ATU

Albessie Thompson will offer a presentation entitled “Community and Rootedness: Stories of the Ozark Foothills African American History Museum” at Arkansas Tech University on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Thompson will speak at 4 p.m. in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300B, 305 West Q Street on the ATU campus in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Founder of the Ozark Foothills African American History Museum, Thompson has been featured on the Blackbelt Voices podcast for her efforts to preserve and share the history of her home area.

Thompson’s appearance is presented by the ATU Department of History and Political Science as part of its observance of Black History Month 2024.
