Arkansas Tech University President Dr. Russell Jones announced on Tuesday, Oct. 6, that ATU has taken steps to continue a program through the end of the fall 2026 semester that was previously funded by a grant from the United States government.

Arkansas Tech was notified on Thursday, Oct. 1, that effective immediately it would no longer receive U.S. Department of Education Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) funding.

Beginning with ATU’s initial CCAMPIS grant award in 2018, a cohort of Pell Grant-eligible ATU students with children was selected each year to receive funding for child care at daycare facilities that agreed to partner with Arkansas Tech on the initiative. The CCAMPIS grant also provided a staff member to administer the program.

Jones reported that ATU will continue to provide the child care services that were promised to its students through CCAMPIS and the employment of its program administrator through the end of the fall 2026 semester utilizing funds provided by the ATU Foundation.

“Private support of Arkansas Tech benefits the institution in many ways,” said Jones. “One of these is when we experience a shortfall in revenue from one or more sources. We are grateful to the ATU Foundation, its board of directors and its donors for their ongoing support of the mission of Arkansas Tech.”
