The Arkansas Tech University Office of Title IX has planned two events in observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 2026.
Brittany Piper will provide the ATU SAAM keynote at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in the Bibler Conference Center at Ferguson Student Union. The event is open to ATU students, faculty and staff.
Piper is a speaker, activist, rape survivor and leading national expert and advocate on sexual violence prevention and recovery. She is also a forensic neurobiology expert who conducts trauma-informed trainings and programs. Her objective is to empower survivors to heal their past so they can thrive in the present.
A survivor support workshop is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Travis Adams Leadership Room at Ferguson Student Union. It will be open to ATU students, faculty and staff.
The workshop will include information about the neurobiology of trauma, available resources and practical ways to respond to and support individuals affected by sexual and relationship violence. A virtual option for the April 16 workshop is available for ATU students, faculty and staff unable to attend in person.
