Arkansas Tech University has earned Military Friendly School Top 10 status and Gold status for 2026-27.
Student retention, persistence, graduation, job placement, loan repayment and loan default rates for all students and for student veterans are among the factors used to evaluate institutions seeking the Military Friendly School distinction.
For the year 2026-27, Arkansas Tech is ranked No. 8 in the United States among large public universities by Military Friendly Schools.
“I offer my congratulations and gratitude to the staff in the ATU Major General William E. Harmon Office of Veteran Services and everyone else at Arkansas Tech who helps veterans and their family members achieve academic and personal success on our campuses,” said Dr. Russell Jones, ATU president. “This Military Friendly Schools Top 10 award is reflective of Arkansas Tech University’s commitment to provide accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to veterans and military-affiliated personnel.”
Shelly Hall is coordinator of veteran services at Arkansas Tech.
More than 1,800 post-secondary educational institutions participated in the 2026-27 Military Friendly Schools survey.
“Earning the Military Friendly designation is more than a badge of honor…it is a reflection of an institution’s deep-rooted values and strategic commitment to those who served,” said Kayla Lopez, vice president of memberships for Military Friendly. “These schools don’t just open doors for veterans and military spouses. They build sustainable pathways for academic success and long-term impact. Their support is transformative, proving that investing in military-connected students is both a moral imperative and a standard for educational excellence.”
