A multi-year project by staff members at Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center to digitize all 91 volumes of the Agricola yearbook at Arkansas Tech University is complete.
Charity Park, special collections librarian and university archivist at Pendergraft Library, said the goal of the project was to create master files for long-term digital preservation and provide high-quality images for readers.
“Paige Warren, archives assistant, and her predecessor digitized and edited most of the collection, while I focused on cleaning up the optical character recognition (OCR) to make each yearbook easier to search,” said Park.
The first edition of the Agricola yearbook at what was then known as the Second District Agricultural School was published in 1912.
The final edition of the Agricola was published at Arkansas Tech University in 2007.
