
Arkansas Tech University hosted more than 1,400 students representing more than 90 school districts for Future Farmers of America career development events and competitions on Thursday, March 12.
Students competed in evaluation contests related to agriculture mechanics, agronomy, electricity, farm and agribusiness management, floriculture, forestry, horses, land, livestock, milk quality and products, nursery and landscape, poultry, veterinary science and wildlife management.
Leadership for the event was provided by the Arkansas FFA Northwest District Career Development Events Committee, which consists of Ron Koch of County Line, Milda McCutcheon of Dover, Abby Clay of Dardanelle, Rhianna Wagner of Booneville, Justin Malott of Gravette, Kevin Barenberg of Lincoln, Troy Weatherley of Greenbrier, Seth Taylor of Mount Vernon-Enola, Clint Simmons of Bergman and Chester Taylor of Valley Springs.
ATU President Dr. Russell Jones greeted the students with a welcome message during an opening session at Tucker Coliseum.
The ATU Department of Agriculture and Tourism, the ATU Office of Admissions, the ATU Department of Public Safety and the ATU Office of University Events were among the Arkansas Tech entities that provided logistical support for the event.
