Arkansas Tech University President Dr. Russell Jones and ATU Staff Senate President Scott Tomlin toured campus on Tuesday, March 3, and delivered good news to three unsuspecting Arkansas Tech employees.
Jones and Tomlin surprised Will Cooper, Amy Anderson and Alexis Scrimshire with the news that they are the recipients of the top three staff awards at ATU for 2026.
Cooper, ATU associate dean for student conduct, was selected ATU outstanding employee of the year in recognition of outstanding and meritorious service and performance.
Anderson, ATU associate athletic director for compliance and student-athlete success, was chosen ATU community service award winner in recognition of organizing community events and/or major achievements in civic, service or specialty organizations and events.
Scrimshire, ATU associate registrar, is the winner of the ATU service award in recognition of distinctive service through committees, special events, the implementation of creative ideas and/or support and encouragement of others.
ATU Staff Senate established the awards in 2024. The awards are selected through a vote of the staff members’ peers.
