Luncheon at ATU Touts Benefits of ARPAP for Industry

Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas and Arkansas Tech Career Center co-hosted a pre-apprenticeship industry partner luncheon at Arkansas Tech University’s Williamson Hall Dining Room on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Speakers included Dr. Russell Jones, Arkansas Tech University president; Dr. Sheila Jacobs, ATU-Ozark Campus chancellor; Ryan Mikles, ATU-Ozark vice chancellor for business innovation and economic development; Kimberly Moore, apprenticeship coordinator for Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas; Rodney Ellis, Springdale High School workforce training director; Bill Mizaur, ATCC director; and Bailey Greenwood, Rockline Industries training systems administrator.

The session was designed to introduce business and industry leaders to the Arkansas Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program (ARPAP) through the Arkansas Department of Commerce and the Arkansas Office of Skills Development. According to information shared at the luncheon, the goal of the event was to “introduce your company to the next generation of skilled trade professionals and show how partnering with the pre-apprenticeship program can strengthen your workforce.”

Business and industry partners represented at the luncheon included the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce, TOLM Group, Ridout Lumber, Rockline Industries, Premier High School, Van Horn Construction, Darragh Company, Brand Spec and the Southern District Training Trust Fund.
