Arkansas Tech University students are invited to a hybrid informational session about The Washington Center and its internship opportunities on Thursday, Sept. 18.

The session will begin at 3:30 p.m. In-person attendance will be available at Rothwell Hall room 312. The session will be available online at https://tinyurl.com/8dm59ynn.

Dr. Michael Rogers, ATU professor of political science, reported that ATU is planning to send 10 or more students to The Washington Center’s national security seminar May 15-23, 2026, in Washington, D.C.

“For Arkansas residents, we anticipate up to 10 funded positions which cover the seminar costs ($2,295),” said Rogers. “Travel and food for the week will be covered by each student. Dr. Bethany Swindell will be the faculty member spending the week in D.C. with our ATU students.”

“There is also up to $7,000 in funding for a student to do a full spring, fall or summer internship through The Washington Center,” said Rogers. “The semester cost is about $15,000.”

According to its website, The Washington Center “provides immersive internships and academic seminars to students from hundreds of colleges and universities and young professionals from across the U.S. and more than 25 countries.”

More than 60,000 TWC alumni have earned career opportunities in fields such as law, education, social work, medicine, journalism, diplomacy, business and politics.
