Wonder Boys Drop Exhibition Game at UT-Arlington

2019-20 Arkansas Tech Men's Basketball Team

NCAA Division I member University of Texas-Arlington withstood a second-half comeback push by Arkansas Tech University to earn an 85-68 men’s basketball victory at the College Park Center in Arlington on Sunday afternoon.

The contest counted as an exhibition game for the Wonder Boys and thus will not be reflected in their 2019-20 record.

UT-Arlington led 43-36 at halftime and by as many as 14 points early in the second half.

Dillon Gooding and Cameron Kennedy knocked down 3-pointers to spark an 11-2 Arkansas Tech run that pulled Arkansas Tech within 55-50 at the 13:10 mark of the second half, but the Mavericks regained control with nine answered points.

UT-Arlington built a 64-50 advantage at the 9:26 mark and never saw its lead dip below double digits for the duration of the afternoon.

Jabari Narcis had 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks.

Gooding paced the Wonder Boys with 19 points. Devante Foster contributed 17 points and eight rebounds. R.J. Glasper poured in 14 points.

The Wonder Boys will resume their regular season schedule with a non-conference contest against Baptist Bible College on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville. Tickets ($5 adults/$3 senior citizens and students) will be available at the door. Those with a valid ATU identification card will be admitted free of charge.
