Student Stories: Kyler Keddie & Morgan Davis

Kyler Keddie

Your name, major and hometown?

Kyler Keddie, Econ & Finance/Marketing and Management (Double Major). I’m from Greenwood, Arkansas.

What’s your passion?

I have always really enjoyed watching, playing and keeping up with sports my entire life. One day I hope to end up working in the sports industry!

Why did you choose ATU?

I chose ATU first of all because I was fortunate enough to get some scholarships that no other university could offer. Other factors that further influenced my decision was the close location to my hometown, and some of my close friends were also planning on attending ATU.

What’s been your favorite on-campus memory so far?

I am going to have to say that freshman year had many memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything while I was living on-campus.

Your favorite place to study?

Normally, I prefer to study in my own room, but when I get distracted I like to go to the second floor of the library either in a small study room or in the back

How is ATU prepping you for the future?

One of the main ways, of course, are the classes that I have taken so far at ATU but also just being on a campus with many friendly professors and people make it much easier to communicate/network which is important for anyone.

Any favorite professors?

You know I have had many professors that I have enjoyed having for class but if you really need me to pick my favorite, I am going to have to go with Dr. Huang.

Your favorite class so far?

My favorite class so far has been Business Finance with Dr. Huang. That class was the most interesting class that I have taken up to this point and Dr. Huang does an excellent job of teaching the course. Working with and understanding time value of money, stocks and bonds are all a big reason [why] I have chosen Econ & Finance as a major and that classes covered each of those topics!

Your go-to food at the caf?

You know, nothing beats a nice bowl of Reese’s Puffs along with a peanut butter waffle (notice the peanut butter trend). That has to be my go-to food combination when I go to the caf!

Morgan Davis

Your name, major and hometown?

Morgan Davis, Bachelor of Science in Business Education. I’m from Paris, Arkansas.

What’s your passion?

I am very passionate about helping others succeed, and I am drawn to leadership positions to help me achieve that. I have been selected as an ATU orientation leader for three consecutive years, and I serve as an ambassador for the education department.

Why did you choose ATU?

I am a legacy. My grandmother was the first woman on her side of the family to go to college, and she chose Tech. Her oldest daughter (my mother) chose Tech. It felt like such a natural decision to follow in their successful footsteps.

What’s been your favorite on-campus memory so far?

My freshman-year involvement fair. I couldn’t believe how many clubs and organizations ATU had to offer. It was also great being able to see what some of the businesses in Russellville were.

Your favorite place to study?

My favorite place to study is on the second floor of the Library with friends. It is very quiet, and you can feel the brainstorming energy of others.

How is ATU prepping you for the future?

ATU is preparing me academically for my future, but it is also preparing me in other ways as well. Since being at Tech I have developed my leadership skills in new ways, and I have found a greater appreciation for diversity.

Any favorite professors?

My favorite professor is Susan Campbell. She is an excellent professor but also cares about her students on a personal level as well. She not only wants her students to succeed in the classroom but in life as well.

Your favorite class so far?

My favorite class was my freshman class, Orientation to the University, with Amy Pennington. It really set me up for success in all of my other classes.

Your go-to food at the caf?

Me and my friends love going to BazTech to eat at any time of the day. Our favorite is Chick-fil-a. The atmosphere is perfect for hanging out, and the staff is always so friendly.
