Arkansas Tech University student Cassandra Lusk of North Little Rock died on Sunday, Sept. 10. She was 42.
Lusk’s academic interests included nursing, public relations, art and business.
She was a member of ATU Presidential Leadership Cabinet during her time on campus. She was also part of a delegation of 10 ATU students who began their spring 2023 semester by traveling to the nation’s capital for the 2023 Inside Washington Seminar presented by The Washington Center.
“Attending the Inside Washington seminar has inspired me to look at every possible field, network and build connections that could last a lifetime,” said Lusk at the time. “It also reinforces that, as an African American woman of color, I can do anything I push myself to do. It’s been very inspiring.”
Lusk transferred to ATU in fall 2022 and attended through summer 2023. She was enrolled for fall 2023 before withdrawing on Aug. 31.
The ATU Health and Wellness Center has counselors available if ATU students need their services. The center can be reached at (479) 968-0329 or hwc@atu.edu.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Cypress St. in Pine Bluff.
