Golden Suns Roll To Season-Opening Victory

2019-20 Arkansas Tech Women's Basketball Team

Arkansas Tech University began its 43rd season of intercollegiate women’s basketball with a 114-36 non-conference victory over Crowley’s Ridge College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Suns (1-0) led 27-12 after one quarter and 60-17 at halftime. ATU opened the second half on a 15-3 run and led 85-28 at the end of three quarters.

Jalei Oglesby scored 21 points to lead the way for Arkansas Tech. The freshman guard from Howe, Okla., was 8-of-12 from the field in 14 minutes of playing time.

Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse (17 points), Sarah Heard (12 points), Hannah Villines (11 points), Kaley Shipman (11 points) and Ryann Goodsell (10 points) also reached double figures in scoring for the Golden Suns.

Arkansas Tech was 45-of-77 from the field (58 percent) and finished with a 43-3 edge in points off turnovers.

The Golden Suns will host Lane College in continued non-conference action on Monday, Nov. 11. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Tucker Coliseum.
