Golden Suns, Klemm Claim Titles at Chamberlyne

Arkansas Tech University swept the team and individual championships in the 2019 ATU Invitational, a collegiate women’s golf tournament contested Monday and Tuesday at Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville.

The Golden Suns posted a 36-hole team score of 626 to finish first among a field of 15 teams.

ATU’s Jacqueline Klemm cruised to a seven-stroke victory in the individual standings. She shot 74-72 for a 2-over par total of 146.

Katie Whitfield (T-6th, 79-78-157), Allie Weiner (T-14th, 83-77-160), Makenzie Douglas (T-33rd, 80-85-165) and Sydney Staton (T-42nd, 84-83-167) also contributed to the Golden Suns’ team title.

Arkansas Tech’s Cintia Bolanos (T-18th, 83-78-161), May Buranasiri (T-33rd, 84-81-165), Josie Roberson (T-36th, 84-82-166) and Patranit Chuaychoo (T-53rd, 86-85-171) competed as individuals.

The Golden Suns will conclude the fall portion of their 2019-20 women’s golf schedule by competing in the UALR Classic beginning Sunday, Oct. 27.
