Arkansas Tech Career Center (ATCC) and Ford Motor Company have a partnership program to raise awareness and increase interest in career opportunities within the automotive industry, ultimately as a service technician. The students enrolled in the Ford Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) Program are obtaining valuable knowledge of Ford/Lincoln vehicle systems by completing Web-Based Training(WBT) via their Learning Management System (LMS). These courses are a subset of the same courses taken by Ford’s current dealership technicians. By completing these WBT courses, the students are one step closer towards a career in the automotive industry, beginning as an entry-level automotive service technician at a Ford/Lincoln dealership.
Ford Automotive Career Exploration is a partnership program between Ford Motor Company, Ford and Lincoln dealerships, and secondary and post-secondary educational institutions. The program intends to raise awareness and increase interest in career opportunities within the automotive industry, ultimately as a service technician.
ATCC Director, Pat Edmunds spoke about the new partnership.
“We are honored to have our automotive program recognized at this level. This partnership with Ford Motor allows ATCC to improve upon an already quality program by allowing students more opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skillset to enter a high demand, high skill, high wage career. We are thankful for the opportunity to build upon our industry partnership with both Cogswell and Whitson Morgan, and look forward to seeing what these students will do in their future careers.”
Doug Johnson, the regional technical talent placement specialist for Ford Motor Company stated,
“We wanted to recognize the students at ATCC. They have done an exceptional job with the Ford web-based curriculum that we have donated to them through Whitson Morgan Motor Company. This event is to them know that they’re doing a great job and we hope that they continue down the positive path to the optimum career that they’re currently on.”
