The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music will close out its schedule of fall 2025 concerts with a series of student performances from Thursday, Dec. 4, through Sunday, Dec. 7.
The ATU Symphonic Band and the ATU Brass Choir will perform at Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. Admission will be free and open to the public.
The title of the Thursday concert is “Light and Life.”
Dr. Adam P. Miller, ATU assistant professor of music and associate director of bands, conducts the ATU Symphonic Band. The ATU Brass Choir performs under the direction of Dr. TJ Perry, ATU associate professor of music.
The ATU choral music program will present its annual Feast of Carols concert on Saturday, Dec. 6, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 501 S. Phoenix Ave. in Russellville. There will be two performances of the concert, one at 4 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to Feast of Carols will be free, but tickets will be required in order to ensure adequate seating capacity. As of Tuesday, Dec. 2, all tickets for the 4 p.m. show have been reserved and limited seats remain for the 7:30 p.m. show. They may be reserved at https://atuchoirs.ludus.com/index.php.
Dr. Katie Rohwer, ATU assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, and Dr. Jon Clements, ATU professor of music, will conduct the choirs.
The ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble will close out the semester with a 2:30 p.m. concert at Witherspoon Auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 7. Admission will be free and open to the public.
The title of the Sunday concert is “Old Songs Remembered.” It will include a percussion quartet performance of “Re(new)al” by Viet Cuong, a performance of a Caroline Shaw piece as arranged by Danielle Fisher and a 20th anniversary performance of David Maslanka’s “Symphony No. 7.”
Shih-Man Weng, pianist in the New World Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, will appear as a guest artist on the Maslanka piece.
Dr. Daniel A. Belongia, ATU professor of music and director of bands, serves as conductor for the ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
