Cathryn Gaines Bass (HPE ’08 & M.Ed. PE ’12) and Tyler Bass (RPA ‘14), a son, Clint Andrew, May 6, 2021. Clint has a brother, Carter.

Nancy Sullivant Cox (ENGL ’77) retired as assistant professor of English and developmental reading at Arkansas Tech.

1980s

Carol Adkison (COM SCI ’80) retired as associate director of information systems at Arkansas Tech.

Kelly Davis (BUAD ’81) retired as director of alumni relations at Arkansas Tech.

Gregg Grant (HPE ’84, M.Ed. EDLD ’00, Ed.S. ‘02) was named director of the Arch Ford Educational Service Cooperative effective July 2021 after serving as superintendent of the Danville School District for eight years.

Mike Bogue (ENGL EDU ’88) retired as director of the APEX Tutoring Center at Arkansas Tech.

1990s

Jim Smith (ACCT ’91) was elected secretary of the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees for the 2021 calendar year.

Eric Burnett (HPE ’94) was elected chairman of the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees for the 2021 calendar year.

2000s

Michael Hancock

Dr. Michael Hancock (MUED ’00) was hired as director of bands at the University of Central Arkansas.

Pete Bradford

Pete Bradford (NURS ’01) was one of the 139 service members assigned to the U.S. Navy’s Task Force Southeast-Jacksonville, the primary U.S. Department of Defense support organization for the Federal Emergency Management Agency response to COVID-19.

Brenda Shoop (SPH COMM ’02) received the 2021 ATU-Ozark Campus Staff Professional Excellence Award and retired from her position as assessment coordinator at ATU-Ozark

Elizabeth Bowles Sharp (HPE ’04 & M.Ed. PE ’05) completed five weeks of radiation treatments in her fight against cancer in February 2021. She is associate professor of kinesiology at Colorado Mesa University.

Maggie Waymack-Cope (HPE ’04 & M.Ed. ’10) was elected to the Cabot City Council. She continues to serve in the role she has held since 2009 as a coach and teacher in the Cabot School District.

Aoife Cooke (’05) qualified for the Tokyo Olympics marathon as a member of Team Ireland.

Stephanie Parker Duffield (INTL STUDIES ’05) was elected vice chair of the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees for the 2021 calendar year.

Ryan Casey McShane (JOUR ’08) was promoted to director of product marketing at TIAA.

Liz Chrisman (GRPH DSGN ’09 & M.A. MMJR ’12) was hired as social media strategist for the International Mountain Bicycling Association.

2010s

Joey Potts (HPE ’10 ) was named ninth-grade head football coach for the Alma School District.

Skot Covert

Skot Covert (EAM ’12) was hired as a full-time meteorologist at KTHV Channel 11 in Little Rock.

Jake Smith (BIOL ’12) graduated from a urology residency at Baylor Scott and White in Temple, Texas, in June 2021 and began a pediatric urology fellowship at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., in July 2021.

Elijah Knudsen (EMT ’13) was named paramedicine instructor for the Table Rock campus of Ozarks Technical Community College (Mo.).

Krystal Carr Shipp (M.Ed. ’13) was voted 2020-21 Arkansas Tech professor of the year. She serves as instructor of curriculum and instruction in the ATU College of Education.

Andrea Muffuletto Cooper (M.S. CSP ’14 & M.Ed. COUN ’21) was named director of career services at the University of the Ozarks effective Feb. 1, 2021.

Judson Smith (HPE ’18) was hired as assistant boys’ basketball coach and social studies teacher at Sheridan High School.

Carly Copeland Ashlock (ELED ’19) was hired as the Associate Digital Producer at Saatchi & Saatchi X.

Addison Graham (FA ’20) was accepted into the master’s degree program in the University of South Carolina School of Visual Art and Design.

Johnathon Tyler Loretz (MUED ’20) was hired as middle school/assistant band director for the Green Forest School District.

Chandler Hiatt (GRPH DSGN ’21) completed a large mural at Piney Bay Coffee Company in Clarksville.

Brittney Keys (BIOL ’21) was presented with the 2021 Jill Lestage Brown Service Leadership Award from Arkansas Tech.

Jacob Loomis (POL SCI ’21) was named national outstanding student government leader of the year by the Conference on Student Government Associations.

Dakota Mooney (RS ’21) earned the 2021 Alfred J. Crabaugh Award as most outstanding senior undergraduate male student at Arkansas Tech.

Emilee Smith (POL SCI ’21) received the 2021 Margaret Young Award as most outstanding senior undergraduate female student at Arkansas Tech.

Elizabeth Kerrol Griffin Williams (’47) died March 1, 2021. Kerrol lived in Lompoc, Calif. She was 95.

Bettye Jo Albright (’50) died Feb. 28, 2021. Bettye lived in North Little Rock. She was 89.
