Electra of Bellhaven Fall 2026

The Arkansas Tech University theatre and film program will offer three performances of “Electra of Bellhaven: A Southern Gothic Adaptation of Sophocles’s Electra” for its fall 2026 production.

The performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. All three performances will take place in the Techionery Theatre, 1502 N. El Paso Ave. on the ATU campus in Russellville.

Tickets, which are $5, will be available at the door. Only cash will be accepted. Doors will open 30 minutes before each performance.

“Electra” is a Greek tragedy that was written by Sophocles in approximately 400 B.C.

Frances Roberson, ATU director of theatre and associate professor of theatre and film, was inspired to stage an adaptation of “Electra” after accompanying ATU students and ATU faculty colleagues on a study abroad trip to Greece earlier this year.

“I wanted a work that could combine our students’ experiences in Greece with our common experience with southern life,” said Roberson, who is serving as director for “Electra of Bellhaven.”

The lead role will be played by Cloud Perdue. She is joined in the cast by Adrien Lewis, Lola Shaptner, Ava Wheatley, Nathan Smith, Brynnan Smith, Lydia Obsorne, Darren Morgan, Lydia Campbell, Brandon Roberts, Callee Geiger, Stephanie Ham, Rebecca Schwab and Xavier Salinas.

The crew includes Rachel Kemp (stage manager), Stephanie Ham (assistant stage manager), Rebecca Schwab (assistant stage manager), Samuel Jones (dramaturg), Christie Kellar (faculty shop supervisor), Sara Berglund (technical director), Taylor Wright, Kade Heffington, Jackson Jordan, Rachel Kemp, Zack Baldwin and Arlo Lampirez (build crew), Aurora Riffe (properties designer and props master), Nathanial Shank (lighting designer and operator), Aurora Riffe (sound designer and operator), Mia Griffin (costume designer), Mary-Katelyn Stark (hair and makeup designer), Gracie Sutton (house manager) and Emma Guill (publicity, social media, program and graphic design).

The ATU theatre and film program is part of the ATU Department of Communication and Media Studies. Dr. David J. Eshelman serves as department head.
