LULAC Presents Service Award to ATU

Arkansas Tech University was honored by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 750 in Little Rock with a University Service Award during the organization’s annual gala on Friday, Oct. 13.

According to LULAC Council 750, the award recognizes initiatives developed for the recruitment and retention of Latino students, including partnerships between the university and LULAC to provide scholarship assistance to eligible students.

“We are, and will continue to be, dedicated to being not only a welcoming campus, but one where students will excel and reach their educational goals,” said Dr. Robin E. Bowen, ATU president, upon learning of the award.

Arkansas Tech and LULAC entered into a memorandum of understanding in October 2016 that provides enhanced educational opportunities for Hispanic Americans.

Applications for the scholarships must be received by March 31 of each year.
