Historian to Offer IRS Lecture Feb. 22

Dr. Kelly Jones, assistant professor of history at Arkansas Tech University, will present the Friday, Feb. 22, edition of the ATU Interdisciplinary Research Series.

Jones will give a lecture entitled “‘We Just Got What We Could:’ Food and Power in the Lives of Enslaved Arkansans” from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in Dr. Robert Charles Brown and Jill Lestage Brown Hall room 134. The event will be open to all members of the university community.

According to her faculty profile, Jones has focused much of her scholarly work on the topic of American slavery. Her research efforts have centered upon the Trans-Mississippi South, especially Arkansas.

Jones joined the ATU faculty in 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Master of Arts degree from the University of North Texas and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
