Donors Endow New ATU Nursing Scholarship

A new, privately-funded scholarship through the Arkansas Tech University Foundation will assist upper-level nursing students at ATU.

Named the Chair of the Department of Nursing Scholarship, the fund has been fully endowed by Dr. Richard Kluender and his wife, Katherine Kluender, of Russellville.

“Dr. and Mrs. Kluender established this scholarship after meeting with Dr. Rebecca Burris, head of the nursing department,” said Mike Hutchison, vice president for advancement at Arkansas Tech. “On behalf of the students who will benefit from their generosity, we say thank you to the Kluenders.”

Applicants for the scholarship must be full-time junior or senior nursing majors. Additional requirements include high academic standing within the department, excellent professional potential, demonstrated leadership and service potential through extracurricular activities and financial need.

The Chair of the Department of Nursing Scholarship will be awarded for one semester and renewable for a subsequent semester provided the recipient continues to meet the criteria.
