Rotaract meeting to be held Oct. 6

The Ozark Campus is starting a new student organization called Rotaract, a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18-30.

Rotaract clubs are sponsored by a local Rotary club, and ours will be sponsored by the Altus Rotary. Our intention is to become a true “partnership in service.”

Rotaract is an international program founded in 1968 by Rotary International, an association of clubs made up of service-minded business and professional leaders. In simple terms, Rotaract is “good people, doing good things.” Its founding premises are volunteerism and professional growth. It will not only provide service opportunities, but it will add benefits such as leadership, resume material and “education outside the classroom” — tools for success!

As we get started, the first step is to see if we have enough interested and dedicated students that want to be a part of this organization. We would like to meet with any interested students this Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Student Service Conference Room (117B) at 11 a.m. for about half an hour to explain more about the organization and answer any questions. Please come out and see how you can be a part of this organization and how you can be of service to your local and international communities.

The faculty sponsors are Lynn Burns and Mike Murders with Laura Rudolph acting as the local Rotary liaison. Our goal is to have 20 students sign up immediately to make this happen. Please help, and please visit the Rotaract website to find out more.
