Various Ensembles to Perform March 4-10

The instrumental musicians of Arkansas Tech University will have a busy week beginning on March 4.

A series of three performances over a span of seven days will begin with the St. Paddy’s Day Swing at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4, at the Center for the Arts, which is located on the Russellville High School campus at 2209 S. Knoxville Ave. in Russellville.

The ATU Jazz Ensemble and the RHS Jazz Ensemble are scheduled to perform during the March 4 show.

ATU’s Symphonic Band and Concert Band will give a 7:30 p.m. performance at Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville, on Thursday, March 7.

The ATU Symphonic Band is comprised primarily of music majors, but is open to students of all majors by audition. It offers two performances per semester.

The ATU Concert Band is a large ensemble dedicated to the non-music major population. The band performs two concerts per year. ATU Concert Band is open to all students in the university without a required audition.

The string of instrumental performances will conclude when the ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble offers at 2:30 p.m. concert at Witherspoon Auditorium on Sunday, March 10.

The ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the premier instrumental ensemble on the Tech campus. Comprised almost completely of music majors, but open to students of any major by audition, this ensemble is for the most serious wind performer and music student.

Typically, the ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs six concerts per year of the highest level of literature.

Admission to each of the performances listed above will be free and open to the public.
