Open Enrollment for Employees Nov. 6-17

The Arkansas Tech University Office of Human Resources has announced dates and procedures for insurance open enrollment for the 2018 calendar year.

All employees who wish to elect insurance coverage for the 2018 plan year (Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018) must participate in this open enrollment period process.

Open enrollment for employee benefits will begin on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, and continue through Friday, Nov. 17, 2017. Faculty and staff will have this time to enroll in or make changes to their benefits for the 2018 plan year (Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018). Employees must take action by end of business on Friday, Nov. 17.

Arkansas Tech University will use a new online enrollment system for the upcoming open enrollment period. Representatives from the Office of Human Resources will be present at each session to answer questions.

Arkansas Tech will continue to cover 100 percent of the employee portion of the high deductible health plan (HSA) premiums for the 2018 plan year. Premium rates for all other benefits (dental, vision and voluntary products) will remain the same.

Arkansas Tech is again offering $500 HSA seed money to qualifying employees who have enrolled in the high deductible health plan effective Jan. 1, 2018, via the open enrollment process. Any employee who will be changing from a PPO plan to the high deductible health plan (HSA) will also be eligible for the $500 seed money. Also, any employee who enrolled in the HSA or a PPO plan during 2017 will be eligible for the $500 seed money.

Examples:

  • Employee, Jerry, enrolled in a PPO plan during open enrollment in the fall of 2016. Jerry enrolls in a HSA plan during open enrollment this fall.  Jerry will receive $500 seed money as a new enrollee in a HSA plan.
  • Employee, Jerry, enrolled in the HSA plan during calendar year 2017, as a new employee. If Jerry enrolls in a HSA plan during open enrollment this fall, he will receive $500 seed money.
  • Employee, Jerry, enrolled in a PPO plan during calendar year 2017, as a new employee. If Jerry enrolls in a HSA plan during open enrollment this fall, he will receive $500 seed money.
  • Employee, Jerry, enrolled in a HSA plan during open enrollment in the fall of 2016. If Jerry elects to reenroll in the HSA plan during open enrollment this fall, Jerry received his $500 seed money at last open enrollment and is not eligible for the seed money again.
