The Arkansas Tech University Department of Campus Life Lunch With a Leader series will host Dr. Phillip Bridgmon, ATU interim vice president for academic affairs, for a roundtable discussion with students on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The topic of the day will be challenges and opportunities for first generation college students. Bridgmon was a first generation student when he attended the University of North Alabama, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in criminal justice from the University of Alabama and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in political science from the University of Alabama.
Bridgmon served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. from 2012-17, at which time he joined ATU as associate vice president for academic affairs. He has served as the interim chief academic officer at ATU since April 2018.
According to information provided by the ATU Department of Campus Life, the Lunch With a Leader series is designed to provide students with “a chance to learn from the experience of seasoned professionals from a variety of different fields as well as an opportunity to engage in conversation about the university community as a whole.”
Lunch is provided on a first come, first served basis.
The Feb. 12 event is an On Track event on the Leader Identified track.
