Treat Yourself to Jazz Friday Night at ATU

A pre-Thanksgiving helping of jazz will be served at Arkansas Tech University on Friday, Nov. 16.

The ATU Jazz Ensemble will perform at Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Performances of “Overture” from “The Nutcracker Suite” by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, “Prelude to a Kiss” by Duke Ellington, “Have You Met Miss Jones” by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart and “Ticker” by Bill Holman will be followed by an intermission.

The second portion of the show will feature “The Meeting Place” by Thad Jones, “Lil Darlin’” by Neal Hefti, “Anthropology” by Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie and “I Let a Songo Out of My Heart” by Lars Halle.

Members of the ATU Jazz Ensemble for fall 2018 are Jordan Davis, Jesus Fernandezdelara, Cole Birmingham, Sophie Vargas and Tina Christiansen (saxophones); David Hall, Trevor Gould, Dillon Green, Alton Morrison, Josh Martin and Andy Sinay (trumpets); Michael Bays, Jacob Hawkins, Billy Brown and Riley Kelley (trombones); Anthony Montgomery and Patricia Reece (piano); Jarred Harley and Ian Neiswender (drums); and Michael Barker (bass).

Dr. Sean Reed, associate professor of music, is director of the ATU Jazz Ensemble.
