Toland Judges Statewide Competition

Megan Toland, assistant professor of journalism at Arkansas Tech University, served as a volunteer judge at the 73rd annual Arkansas DECA State Career Development Conference in Little Rock on Jan. 31.

DECA is an educational association of junior high, high school and college students preparing for careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship-related fields. The mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

During the DECA State Career Development Conference, more than 600 students from junior high and high schools across the state competed in more than 50 events. Competitors were required to perform in front of a panel of judges coming from many different corporate backgrounds.

Toland has served on the ATU faculty since 2011. She was previously the marketing director for the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce. Toland holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from ATU.
