Storm Spotter Training Set for November 7

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Emergency Management will host a SKYWARN storm spotter training class on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The class, which is open and free to the public, will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300B at 305 West Q Street in Russellville.

The training is taught by representatives from the National Weather Service. Information shared during the class will equip members of the public to submit severe weather reports to the National Weather Service as part of the Weather-Ready Nation initiative of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Those completing the training will receive storm spotter certification and their reports will be used to assist National Weather Service personnel during times of extreme weather.

Those planning on attending the class may contact Samuel Cockrell, graduate assistant in the ATU Department of Emergency Management, at scockrell@atu.edu for more information or to reserve seats.
