All members of the Arkansas Tech University community and the surrounding area are invited to attend a ceremony announcing a national honor for the institution on Friday, April 29.

The brief ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex.

The announcement will precede a 2016 Arbor Day service project for students, faculty and staff hosted by the Arkansas Tech University Office of Facilities Management.

In cooperation with the City of Russellville, the project will consist of raking and freshening the mulch around the trees located alongside North Phoenix Avenue adjacent to the Arkansas Tech campus in Russellville. Participants will also perform some light tree trimming as needed.

Those interested in taking part in the service project will depart from the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex parking lot immediately following the 11 a.m. ceremony.

All necessary supplies will be provided. Those wishing to bring their own gloves are invited to do so. It is anticipated that the project will last between two and four hours.
