OOTD Walk Named Top 10 For Second Year

The Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk hosted by Arkansas Tech University has been recognized as one of the top 10 American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) campus walk events in the United States for a second consecutive year.

The 2015 Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk at Arkansas Tech raised $19,674, which ranked No. 10 among the more than 150 AFSP campus walks held around the nation last year.

The inaugural Out of the Darkness walk at Arkansas Tech in 2014 raised $16,536.

The top 2015 fund-raising events were recognized during the national AFSP Chapter Leadership Conference on Jan. 23, 2016, in Little Rock.

According to its website, AFSP works to “fund research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss.”

Arkansas Tech will host its third Out of the Darkness walk on Saturday, April 16, 2016. More information about how to register for the event will be shared in the weeks to come at www.facebook.com/RussellvilleOOTD.
