The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band will perform a concert entitled “Folk Songs” at Witherspoon Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 15.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Pieces scheduled for performance are “Kirkpatrick Fanfare” by Andrew Boysen, Jr., “Polly Oliver” by Thomas Root, “Slavonic Dances, Op. 46, No. 4, Sousedská” by Antonín Dvořák, “Rhosymedre” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and “Variations on a Korean Folk Song” by John Barnes Chance.
Dr. Daniel A. Belongia, associate professor of music and director of bands, and Dr. Jim Daughters, instructor of music education and associate director of bands, serve as conductors for the ATU Symphonic Band.
The ATU Symphonic Band is comprised primarily of music majors, but is open to students of all majors by audition. The group performs two concerts per semester.
