Education Students Assist at Local Events

Arkansas Tech University College of Education students recently gave of their time to assist with a pair of autumn-themed events for children in Russellville.

ATU students representing early childhood education, elementary education and special education classes taught by Dr. Timothy Leggett and Dr. Jackie Paxton volunteered at the Friendship Community Care Fall Carnival on Oct. 26 and the Pediatrics Plus Fall Festival on Oct. 27.

At both events, the Arkansas Tech students directed games and other activities.

“Employers want graduates who have a passion for what they do,” said Leggett. “I see a passion, drive and love for working with children among our students. They take joy in working with every child. Working with these groups helps our students clarify their direction, and in many cases it shows our students that they want to work with children with exceptionalities.”
