ASBTDC Training Events for March and April

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center regional office at Arkansas Tech University has announced training opportunities during March and April 2019.

The ATU ASBTDC regional office is designed to assist new, existing, and expanding businesses by offering a variety of services including free one-to-one confidential consulting, free market research and low-cost or free training.

Selling to the Government • Wednesday, March 6
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) and the Arkansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center presents “Selling to the Government” from 9:30 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, March 6, at the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce. Selling to the government is different than selling in the private sector. Come learn about different government contract types, state and federal procurement processes and how you can register your business to sell products or services to the government. This course is of special benefit to those companies that have no experience in government contracting or are relatively new to the process. Starting a Business in Arkansas • Tuesday, March 12
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech University presents “Starting a Business in Arkansas” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. This basic seminar discusses essential startup steps, legal business structures, regulations, licensing, key issues that affect your business success and common pitfalls entrepreneurs face. This event is taught by a business consultant and an attorney. A must for first-time small business owners. Cost to attend is $30, and veterans attend free. QuickBooks Online Basics & Beyond • Thursday, March 21
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech University presents “QuickBooks Online Basics & Beyond” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. This interactive workshop is for those using or planning to use the cloud-based version of QuickBooks (Simple Start, Essentials, or Online Plus). Topics build from navigation and company set up to reconciling accounts, handling revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank feeds, inventory, customizing reports and more. A computer and a take-home workbook are provided. Cost to attend is $130. Small Business Financial Management • Thursday, March 28
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech University presents “Small Business Financial Management” on Thursday, March 28, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce. Learn the rules and how to use the basic tools for sound business financial management. Topics include bookkeeping best practices, an overview of common financial statements and financing for your business. Keep the Cash Flowing: Cash Flow 101 • Thursday, April 18
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech University presents “Keep the Cash Flowing: Cash Flow 101” on Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m.-noon at the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce. Learn about cash flow basics for your business including working capital management, calculating and closing the financial gap, cash forecasting and more. QuickBooks Desktop Payroll • Thursday, April 25
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center presents “QuickBooks Desktop Payroll” from 9 a.m.-noon on Thursday, April 25, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. This hands-on workshop is designed for QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise users to learn to use the payroll features in the desktop version of QuickBooks accounting software. Topics include tracking employee time, issuing paychecks, paying liabilities and producing required payroll reports. A computer and take-home book are provided during this interactive session. Real Customer Service • Tuesday, April 30
The ASBTDC regional office at Arkansas Tech University presents “Real Customer Service” from 1-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. The customer experience is key to retaining customers, getting referrals and keeping sales local. Join us as the Russellville Chamber of Commerce demonstrates what real customer service should look like in different customer service scenarios. Special emphasis will be given to handling unhappy customers and creating a positive customer service environment.
