Wonder Boys Picked Third in GAC Hoops

Great American Conference men’s basketball coaches have picked Arkansas Tech University to finish third in the league during the 2018-19 season.

The Wonder Boys received 86 points in the poll. Southern Nazarene University was a unanimous pick to win the 2018-19 GAC men’s basketball title with 121 points, while Southeastern Oklahoma State was the second choice with 92 points.

East Central University (4th, 83 points), Southern Arkansas University (5th, 80 points) and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (6th, 78 points) completed the top half of the poll.

Ouachita Baptist University (7th, 53 points), the University of Arkansas-Monticello (8th, 52 points), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (9th, 46 points), Harding University (10th, 43 points) and Henderson State University (11th, 41 points) are also viewed as contenders to earn one of the eight berths in the GAC Tournament, which will be played March 7-10 in Bartlesville, Okla.

Oklahoma Baptist University (12th, 17 points) completed the preseason poll.

Head coach Chad Kline and the Wonder Boys were 18-11 overall and 12-10 in GAC play during the 2017-18 season. R.J. Glasper, last year’s GAC freshman of the year, is back after averaging 19.9 points per game last season. He became the first freshman to earn a place on the All-GAC first team in men’s basketball.

The Wonder Boys will begin their 2018-19 season by facing the University of Minnesota-Crookston for a noon game in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday, Nov. 10.
