Wonder Boys Head North to Begin 2018-19

Arkansas Tech University and the University of Minnesota-Crookston will meet in a men’s basketball season opener for the second consecutive year when they square off at noon in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday, Nov. 10.

The Wonder Boys will face another NCAA Division II Central Region opponent when they take on Concordia University-St. Paul for a 2 p.m. contest in St. Paul on Sunday, Nov. 11.

Arkansas Tech will play five consecutive games away from Tucker Coliseum to begin the 2018-19 men’s basketball season. The Wonder Boys will make their home debut when they host Henderson State University for a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday, Dec. 1.

About the Wonder Boys: Arkansas Tech was 18-11 overall during the 2017-18 season. The Wonder Boys defeated Minnesota-Crookston 114-105 on Nov. 11, 2017, at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville. R.J. Glasper scored 26 points in his ATU debut, eight of which came during a 12-1 run late in the second half. Glasper went on to average 19.9 points per game during the 2017-18 season, win Great American Conference freshman of the year and become the first freshman named All-GAC first team. He and senior guards Alex Brown (13.4 points per game) and Freddy Lee (7 points, 5 assists per game) are the Wonder Boys’ top returners.

About the Golden Eagles: Minnesota-Crookston completed the 2017-18 campaign with a record of 10-19. Junior guard Harrison Cleary (24.2 points per game) was All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team last year. He was the No. 1 free throw shooter in NCAA Division II men’s basketball (96 percent) and an honorable mention All-America selection in 2017-18.
