Wescott Earns GAC Co-Player of the Week

Arkansas Tech University’s Cody Wescott was recognized by the Great American Conference as its co-baseball player of the week on Monday, Feb. 5.

Wescott hit .357 (5-for-14) with two home runs, six runs batted in and three runs scored at the season-opening Airhogs Division II Classic in Grand Prairie, Texas, last weekend.

His play helped the Wonder Boys win 3-of-4 games, including victories over two teams — Emporia State University and the University of Central Oklahoma — that were nationally-ranked in an NCAA Division II preseason poll.

A right-handed hitting senior from Phoenix, Ariz., Wescott did most of his damage in the Emporia State game. He was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs against the Hornets.

Arkansas Tech will host Missouri Western State University for a four-game series at Tech Field in Russellville on Thursday, Feb. 8, and Friday, Feb. 9. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. both days. Live coverage will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
