Tigers Hand Wonder Boys First Loss

Ouachita Baptist’s Drew Harris scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 1:36 remaining to send the Tigers to a 35-31 Great American Conference win over nationally 11th-ranked Arkansas Tech University at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville on Saturday night.

The Wonder Boys (4-1 overall, 4-1 GAC) reached the Tigers’ 18-yard line during their last-chance drive, but OBU broke up a pass attempt at the goal line as time expired.

Harris rushed 12 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (4-1, 4-1). He also caught five passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

OBU quarterback Austin Warford completed 17-of-22 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns.

Arkansas Tech rushed for 286 yards. Braden Stringer led the way with nine carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Bryan Allen rushed 18 times for 87 yards and a touchdown.

ATU quarterback Ty Reasnor was 29-of-44 passing for 236 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed eight times for 62 yards.

KJ Reid led the Wonder Boys’ defense with 12 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss.

Arkansas Tech will visit the University of Arkansas-Monticello for a 3 p.m. GAC contest on Saturday, Oct. 7. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will provide live coverage.
