Tech's Johnson Gets A Shot at NFL

Former Arkansas Tech University defensive back Myron Johnson has been invited to participate in a three-day rookie training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League.

As an undrafted free agent camp invitee, Johnson (photographed) will have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the Buccaneers’ 2012 roster.

Johnson will leave for the rookie camp on Thursday, May 3.

“I’m just happy and thankful to have this opportunity,” said Johnson when reached for comment.

Johnson appeared in 20 games and made 78 tackles in two years at Arkansas Tech.

During the 2011 season, Johnson was Arkansas Tech’s leading tackler with 61 stops. He also made four tackles for a loss and three interceptions during his senior season.

Johnson had four interceptions and 10 pass break-ups during his two seasons in the green and gold.

A native of Portland, Ore., Johnson attended the College of the Siskiyous before transferring to Arkansas Tech.
