Suns Clinch No. 2 Seed in GAC Tennis

Arkansas Tech University closed out the regular season portion of its spring 2016 tennis schedule by defeating Henderson State University 5-4 in Great American Conference action at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex on Sunday.

The Golden Suns (10-12 overall, 4-3 GAC) won all three doubles matches and withstood a rally by Henderson State in singles play to earn the win. Tech’s Laura Sanchez earned the winning point in the team match with a victory at No. 6 singles.

Arkansas Tech will receive a first-round bye in the GAC Tournament, which will be played at the Memorial Park Tennis Complex in Bentonville beginning on Thursday, April 21.

The Golden Suns will play in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22. The championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23.
