Arkansas Tech University President Dr. Robin E. Bowen has announced that Susie Nicholson will assume a new position as the institution’s NCAA compliance officer and an assistant affirmative action officer as of Thursday, Sept. 1.
Nicholson has served on the Arkansas Tech staff since 1998, including the last five years as vice president for student services and university relations.
A forthcoming change in NCAA Division II rules will require each member institution to employ a full-time NCAA compliance officer who is not concurrently employed as a coach.
Three-time Great American Conference coach of the year Amy Anderson will remain with the university in her roles as head women’s golf coach and as an assistant affirmative action officer, but due to the change in NCAA Division II rules she will not be able to continue as NCAA compliance officer.
“This proactive step will allow Arkansas Tech University to redefine the responsibilities of NCAA compliance officer as a full-time position at our institution,” said Bowen. “We look forward to Mrs. Nicholson’s and Mrs. Anderson’s continued service to ATU in their important roles.”
Bowen said that Amy Pennington, dean of students, will be interim vice president for student services and that Dr. Jeff Mott, chief of staff, will provide interim leadership for the institution’s efforts in communications and marketing.
Arkansas Tech will conduct a search to fill the vice president for student services position on a permanent basis during the 2016-17 academic year.
