Arkansas Tech University will host a military appreciation night in conjunction with its Saturday, Sept. 8, home football game against Henderson State University at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville.
As part of the celebration, there will be a pre-game tailgating reception outside the stadium for all veterans, military personnel and their families from 4-6 p.m. under the ATU alumni tent on Centennial Plaza.
All current military and veterans will receive free admission for the Great American Conference football game between the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys and the HSU Reddies, which will begin at 6 p.m.
Arkansas Honor Ride, a non-profit organization that raises funds for injured military members, will transport the game ball by motorcycle from Arkadelphia to Russellville and present it during the pre-game coin toss. A pre-game skydiving demonstration is also planned.
Members of the ATU community are invited to submit family photos depicting military service for possible inclusion in a slide show on the stadium video board during the Sept. 8 game. Deadline to submit photos is Wednesday, Sept. 5.
