Javelinas Defeat Wonder Boys in Waco

Robert Stevenson scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Texas A&M University-Kingsville to an 80-70 non-conference men’s basketball victory over Arkansas Tech University on Saturday afternoon.

Stevenson helped the Javelinas (4-5) finish with a 44-32 rebounding edge as they won the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The game was played at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.

R.J. Glasper scored a team-high 21 points and dished out seven assists for the Wonder Boys (2-8), who suffered their sixth consecutive loss.

The score was tied 30-30 at halftime. The Javelinas connected on 16-of-21 free throws in the second half. Arkansas Tech was 3-of-4 from the charity stripe after halftime.

The Wonder Boys will be idle until they face Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Great American Conference action at Durant, Okla., on Thursday, Jan. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will provide live coverage.
