Golden Suns Welcome Lane for Sunday Game

A familiar non-conference opponent will visit Tucker Coliseum in Russellville when Arkansas Tech University hosts Lane College in women’s basketball action on Sunday, Dec. 16.

Tickets ($5 adults/$3 students and senior citizens) will be available at the door. Those with a valid ATU identification card will be admitted at no cost.

The Golden Suns will have a two-week break from game action following their contest against Lane College. Tech will return to the hardwood Dec. 30 for a 2 p.m. home game against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

About the Golden Suns: Arkansas Tech has dominated its series with Lane College, winning the seven previous meetings by an average margin of 30.4 points per game. The Golden Suns defeated the Dragons 86-49 at Russellville and 80-59 at Jackson, Tenn., in a pair of meetings during the 2017-18 season. Sophomore guard Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse averaged 15 points per game and her classmate Jayana Sanders averaged 11 points per outing against Lane last season. Junior forward Ryann Goodsell scored a career-high 16 points in the win at Lane on Dec. 14, 2017.

About the Dragons: Lane College is a member of NCAA Division II and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Dragons will arrive in Russellville looking to snap a three-game losing streak. They are 3-1 in SIAC play and 1-7 in non-conference games this season. Senior guard Addie McNeely (12 points per game) is Lane’s leading scorer. Sophomore center Porche’ Hannah stands 6-foot-4 and ranks No. 7 in NCAA Division II in blocked shots (3.3 per game). The Dragons are ranked 277th in the nation in scoring offense (57.9 points per game).
